Takeaways from Eagles week 1 game

The defending champs had their opening game of the season, where they hung the banner at Lincoln Financial Field. The Philadelphia Eagles played the Dallas Cowboys where they won the game 24-21. My biggest takeaways from the game are how they performed on defense, The Eagles did not have Jalen Carter this game because he spit on Cowboys quarterback Dan Prescott on the opening play, but I would have thought that our defensive line could at least be a little effective with our him, but I was wrong. We could not get to the quarterback and when we finally did, Dan Prescott got away. I am aware we lost key pieces in our pass rush this offseason, like Josh Sweat, Milton Williams and Brandon Graham. Either way we still should have some players getting to the quarterback, We have former first rounder Nolan Smith, last years third rounder Jalyx Hunt, this years first rounder Jihaad Campbell, and former first rounder Jordan Davis, but they were completely ineffective. In order to win we would need to get this defensive line straightened out. Other thing the Eagles need to fix on our defense is getting a good third cornerback. We signed cornerback Adoree Jackson this offseason, and he was absolutely horrible this game. Kelee Ringo is not god enough and Jakorian Bennett is not that good either. The Cowboys really found a way to exploit that weakness in first half, and we need to find a solid third corner or teams would just use this weakness against them. Now for the offensive side, our rushing game picked up right where we left off last year, but Jalen Hurts connection with our receivers hasn’t. Last game star receiver AJ Brown only had one reception and one target, Jalen Hurts needs to get on the same page as him. We were relying on players like Jahan Dotson and Dallas Gobert but not Brown. Don’t get me wrong, they are bother good players, but not nearly as good as AJ Brown. If we want to repeat we need them to get on the same page. All in all, there were some positives but a lot of negatives we need to work out.
