Recent NBA Trade Recap

The 2024-25 NBA season has just concluded, but we have already seen some big trades across the league. The first and biggest trade happened on 6/22/25 where NBA superstar and future Hall of Famer, Kevin Durant was delt from the Phoenix Suns for young Jalen Green, a defensive monster in Dillan Brooks, the number 10 pick in the draft, and five second round picks. The Rockets were a very good young team last year finishing second in the west last year, but adding 26 points per game scorer to the team makes this team even greater. The Rockets potentially will have three all-stars for next season and a big three ready to dominate in the playoffs. As for the Suns, they start their rebuild, getting younger and gaining picks. They could do a lot of trading for younger assets this offseason. The next trade happened on 6/23/25 where the Boston Celtics traded Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers for Anfernee Simons and two second round picks. This trade made a lot of sense for the Celics because with superstar Jason Tatum’s season in jeopardy with a torn achilleas they get a player that can score and carry some of Jason Tatum’s load while he is out. As for the Trail Blazers, this trade made no sense, they are rebuilding and one of the worst teams in the league and they send of a 19 points per game scorer that is only 26 and two second round picks for a 35-year-old that is only going to get worse. Another trade that made no sense also involves the Boston Celtics on 6/23/35. Where they send a 19 points per game score in Kristaps Porzingis to the Atlanta Hawks in a three-team deal. The trade was Kristaps Porzingis to the Hawks; the Hawks send the number 22 pick in the upcoming draft and Tarrance Mann to the Brooklyn Nets and Georges Niang to the Celtics. The Nets will send a second-round pick to the Celtics. What makes no sense about this is the Celtics are sending off one of their best players just to get a bench player and a second-round pick when they just one the title just two years ago. Even with the Celtics’ star being out for the year, they should not just disassemble and rebuilt their team. There have been tons of trades so far this offseason and there will be only more to come.
