Quinyon Mitchell: He was the Philadelphia Eagles first-round selection. I would give this pick an A. He was a total steal at pick 22. He is a cornerback from Toledo. He is fast and could guard any player. He excelled in the pre-draft workouts. This pick deserves an A because when you get a player in a position of need that has the best upside out of anybody that plays in the secondary in the draft it makes your team so much stronger. This could help their hole secondary, and this will lead the Eagles to take back the NFC East.
Cooper DeJean: He was the Philadelphia Eagles second-round selection. I would give this a C. He is a defensive back from Iowa. I gave this pick a B because they already have a good cornerback room. It is honestly undegraded. They have last year’s fourth rounder Kelee Ringo, Quinyon Mitchell, Isiah Rodgers Sr. in back from suspension, Darious Slay is not awful, James Bradberry is a good mentor, Josh Jobe is good in the slot, Avonte Maddox is also good in the slot and Zach McPhearson. So, why are they adding more? He was the best player available because he is fast and can play anywhere in the secondary, but he is not worth two second round picks. Since he was the best available, I gave them a C instead of a D. Great Player, but not a great pick.
Jalyx Hunt: He was the Eagles third-round selection. He is an edge rusher from Houston Christian. I give this pick an B. We need to get back to being a dominate pass rushing team and that starts by getting lots of edge rushers. So, they are well rested and can play Eagle football. He is fast off the edge. He was a former safety. I think he can be a five plus sack player every season in Philly which they need. He is under sized and from a small school, so I gave this pick a B instead of an A.
Will Shipley: He was the Eagles fourth-round selection. I give this an A+. He is a running back from Clemson. I know we have expensive, athletic and fast running back in Saquon Barkley, but two fast backs makes for a better back field. This will allow both backs to be rested and play their best. Like Tony Pollard and Ezekiel Elliott from a few years ago, Jaylen Warren and Nagee Harris, Raheem Mostert and Devon Achane, last year’s A.J. Dillon and Aaron Jones. Also, having two backs is good in case one gets hurt. I love this pick and that is why I gave this an A+.
Ainias Smith: He was the Eagles fifth-round selection. He is a receiver from Texas A&M. I give this pick a B. He is great in the slot which the Eagles need. He excelled at route running in collage and hopefully that will carry over to the NFL. I did have other receivers ahead of him, so that is why I gave them a B instead of an A. I had Malik Washington and Brendon Rice ahead of him. Ainias Smith will be great for the Eagles.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr.: He was the Eagles fifth-round selection. He is former Eagles linebacker son, so he is familiar with the city. He is a linebacker from Clemson, and I give this pick an A+. He is an outstanding linebacker which is a big need for the Eagles. He may start week one. Jeremiah Trotter Jr. can help with everything for us. He is not very big, but he has great football IQ, he is very strong and consistent. If we get good linebackers, it can really elevate our defense. Vic Fangio will love him. For all of these reasons drafting Jeremiah Trotter Jr. was a perfect pick for the Eagles.
Trevor Keegan: He was our fifth-round selection. He is a guard from Michigan. I give this pick an A. With future Hall of Fame center Jason Kelce retiring, we have a hole at center, so we have to move guard Cam Jurgens to center. Which makes for a hole at guard. We do have last year’s selection in Tyler Steen, but it is good to have some depth at the position. Trevor Keegan will give us that. He thrives on winning rosters which me have and he has great size and is a constant blocker. That is why I gave this pick an A.
Johnny Wilson: He was our sixth-round selection. He is a receiver from Florida State. I give this pick an A. I love his size. If you think about it can any corner back match up with him. I think he will be our number three receiver by the end of the season. I gave this pick an A instead of an A+ because he drops passes and we already drafted a receiver this season. I do love this pick, and this was a smart decision to pick Johnny Wilson by Howie Roseman.
Dylan McMahon: Last but not least he was our sixth-round selection. He can play center or guard, but he did say he prefers center which I believe he will play. I give this pick an A. He will not start this year but if Cam Jergens gets hurt, we know we have someone behind him we can count on. He is a good blocker; he is wide and has good experience. For these reasons I gave this pick an A.
Overall grade: I give the Eagles an A. I did not love our second-round selection, but the rest was great. As I mentioned I love Will Shipley and Quinyon Mitchell. Overall, we had an outstanding draft class, and I am really excited to see how this plays out.
